Precautions During Operation

Operating Non-Solid and Solid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Precaution

1. Do not touch a capacitor with bare hands or any part of a device when the power is connected.

2. To prevent a short circuit, do not short the capacitor terminals with any conductive object or spill electrically conductive liquid such as acid or alkaline solution over a capacitor.

3. Do not operate devices under adverse environmental conditions.

Explanatory Notes

1. Never touch the positive terminal of a capacitor or any part of a device when the power is connected, you will get an electric shock. The electrical charge in a capacitor or device will discharge into the human body instantly.

2. Shorting the positive and negative terminals with any conductive object or spilling electrically conductive liquid such as acid or alkaline solution over a capacitor will damage the capacitor and cause the device to short circuit.

3. Do not operate devices in the following adverse environmental conditions:

(1) Water, saltwater or oil spatters.

(2) Direct sunlight.

(3) Ozone, ultraviolet rays or radiation.

(4) Toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, chlorine, or ammonium.

(5) Vibration, mechanical shock or stress exceeding the limits specified in the product literature.
